We are excited to have released a new Joinup user interface theme that offers an improved layout, simplified navigation, and, overall, a better online experience.
Improved navigation & menus
We have relocated the navigation menu to a horizontal position, making it easier to locate and navigate through the content within Collections and Solutions on Joinup. The banner has been removed, to provide more focus on elements that are of importance to users and allow for more space in which to show content.
Locating and accessing the settings menu in Collections and Solutions has become simpler and more evident, thanks to the re-designed three-dot icon that appears in a more reachable and identifiable form. Likewise, the “Add content” icon has been relocated to a more visible area, welcoming signed-in users to start creating content on Joinup.
Content that stands out
Content also benefits from the new theme thanks to the clean, minimal design, and new layout dimensions that allow a natural flow to text, images and videos. Content now stands out and is easily consumed without losing users’ focus. The extra space that the new theme provides, allows for more intricate page designs with tables and image sizes and their placement.
Mobile & accessibility friendly
The new theme – through its revamped user interface of clear, intuitive design – also supports and promotes web accessibility and mobile-friendly navigation. This provides all users with equal opportunities in taking advantage of Joinup’s wealth of information. Web accessibility also benefits users without disabilities since the applied principles provide gains for users with small-screen devices (i.e., mobile phones, tablets), in poor-/strong-lit environments, or with slow internet connections.
